Returns, Refunds, Warranty & Repairs Policy

Northern Beaches Hobby Centre (NBHC)

1. Change of Mind Returns

Northern Beaches Hobby Centre (NBHC) does not generally accept returns, refunds or exchanges for change of mind, incorrect purchases, items no longer required, or products ordered in error.

Any change of mind return or exchange is entirely at the discretion of NBHC and must be approved before the item is returned.

Where NBHC agrees to accept a discretionary return:

  • A 20% restocking fee may apply.

  • The product must be unused, complete and in its original packaging, in a condition suitable for resale.

  • Original shipping charges are non-refundable.

  • Return shipping costs are the customer's responsibility.

  • Approved returns may be issued as store credit for use against future purchases.

  • NBHC reserves the right to decline discretionary returns that do not meet these conditions.

These conditions apply only to discretionary returns and do not restrict your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

2. Paints, Glues and Consumable Products

We do not accept change of mind returns for paints, glues, chemicals, opened consumables or similar products.

This restriction does not apply where a customer is entitled to a remedy under Australian Consumer Law.

3. Faulty or Defective Products

All products sold by NBHC are subject to applicable consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law.

If you believe an item is faulty, defective, damaged or not as described, please contact NBHC with your order details, a description of the issue and, where possible, supporting photographs or videos.

We may request further information or arrange a reasonable product assessment to determine the nature and cause of the issue.

Where a product fails to meet an applicable consumer guarantee, NBHC will provide an appropriate remedy as required by Australian Consumer Law.

For a major failure, customers may be entitled to choose a refund or replacement. For a minor failure, NBHC may choose to repair the product within a reasonable time.

No restocking fee will apply to returns where a remedy is required under Australian Consumer Law.

4. Warranty Claims

Manufacturer and distributor warranties vary depending on the product and brand.

Warranty coverage may be subject to the manufacturer's or distributor's applicable terms and conditions.

Damage resulting from misuse, accidents, improper installation, incorrect operation, unauthorised modification, inappropriate charging or inadequate maintenance may not be covered by a manufacturer's warranty.

The cause of an issue will be assessed on the available evidence.

Manufacturer or distributor warranty conditions do not exclude, restrict or replace any consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law.

5. Product Inspection and Assessment

NBHC may inspect returned products or refer them to an authorised service agent, manufacturer or distributor for assessment.

Where a product is found not to have a fault covered by Australian Consumer Law, reasonable inspection, collection or assessment charges may apply, provided the customer has been given a reasonable estimate of those charges before the product is collected or assessed.

No assessment fee will be charged where doing so would be inconsistent with the customer's rights under Australian Consumer Law.

6. Repairs and Servicing

Products submitted for paid repairs or servicing will be assessed before repair work begins.

Following the initial assessment, NBHC will advise the customer of the proposed repairs, required spare parts, estimated costs and approximate timeframe.

Repair work requiring payment will not proceed without customer approval.

Repair estimates and completion times may vary depending on the availability of parts and the extent of the work required.

Applicable inspection, labour, spare parts and shipping charges will be communicated to the customer.

These conditions do not affect remedies that NBHC is required to provide under Australian Consumer Law.

7. Return Shipping Costs

For discretionary returns approved by NBHC, customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless otherwise agreed.

Where a product fails to meet an applicable consumer guarantee, reasonable return or collection costs will be handled in accordance with Australian Consumer Law.

Customers should contact NBHC before arranging the return of potentially hazardous, damaged or unsafe products, including swollen or damaged batteries.

8. Australian Consumer Law

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.

You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, NBHC is not liable for losses arising from improper use, unauthorised modification, accidental damage or use of products contrary to applicable instructions.

Nothing in this clause limits or excludes liability or remedies that cannot legally be limited or excluded, including under Australian Consumer Law.

10. Contact and Returns

Customers should contact Northern Beaches Hobby Centre before returning any product so that the appropriate return, warranty or repair procedure can be arranged.
