The LCM large landing craft (mechanized landing craft), manufactured by the United States between 1942 and 1945, produced more than 8,500 ships. During World War II, it was used to transport tanks. Since the United States does not have a lighter ship to transport tanks than tank landing craft, the LCM landing craft is also Also adopted by the Royal Navy. At the dawn of the D-Day (Normandy Landing Battle), most of the LCM landing craft were towed by the ship and passed through the English Channel, and there was no infantry at that time.

Due to the increase in tank tonnage, the newly developed LCM-3 landing craft has a longer hull and buoyancy, and can carry a 30-ton tank, or other cargo or 60 infantry.

The LCM-3 landing craft had 4 crew members and two 12.7mm machine guns. During the Normandy landing battle, the primary task of the LCM-3 landing craft was to transport a large number of engineer battalions and destroy the enemy's beach obstacles.
