Launched in 2002, JIAO LONG is the first operational deep-sea manned submersible designed and developed independently byChina. It aims to provide a deep-sea carrying platform for international seabed resource surveys, seabed operations and scientific research inChinaocean, which is able to cover 99.8% of the Earth's seafloor. With the maximum diving depth of 7062m, it was accepted and delivered in 2013.
