The Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausf.H (late production) was one of the most extensively produced German tanks of World War II, introduced in mid-1943. It featured additional bolt-on armor, including "Schürzen" side skirts to protect against anti-tank rifles and shaped charges. Powered by a Maybach HL 120 engine, it mounted the long-barreled 75mm KwK 40 L/48 gun, capable of engaging Allied armor at respectable ranges. The late Ausf.H included cast steel return rollers, revised drive sprockets, and increased use of steel road wheels due to rubber shortages. Rugged and reliable, it remained a mainstay of German armored divisions until the war’s end.
